RKI-Daten nicht im Einklang mit amerikanischer Superspreader-Studie Bundesweit nur geringe Fallzahlen in Fitnessstudios

Der Deutsche Industrieverband für Fitness und Gesundheit (DIFG) e. V. sieht sich aufgrund der geringen Fallzahlen in deutschen Fitnessstudios in seiner Strategie des verantwortungsvollen Umgangs mit der Corona-Epidemie bestätigt. Die von Wissenschaftlern der kalifornischen Stanford-Universität in der Zeitschrift „Nature“ publizierten Studie (1) zu Covid-19-Superspreader-Orten gibt daher nicht die aktuelle bundesweite Situation wider. Die Studie zeigt aber, wie wichtig eine enge Zusammenarbeit zwischen Wissenschaft, Politik und betroffenen Branchen ist, um Infektionsrisiken zu minimieren.

UK: Gyms and all shops to reopen after English lockdown

Gyms and non-essential shops in all areas are expected to be allowed to reopen when England's lockdown ends. On Monday afternoon, PM Boris Johnson will explain the detail of England's return to the "three tier system" when lockdown ends on 2 December. While parts of the tier system will be tougher, the 22:00 GMT closing time for pubs and restaurants will be relaxed, alongside gyms and shops reopening.

COVID-19: Supermarkets most common places visited before positive test - latest data

Sky News - Public Health England (PHE) collated data using the NHS Test and Trace app and found that gyms only account for 1.1% of the most common places that people have visited in the days leading up to a positive coronavirus test.

Doctors fight to keep gyms open so they can exercise

The iconic Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago is among the city's fitness facilities which have been able to keep their doors open to members – despite lockdown-style restrictions – after convincing the city's mayor that gyms are safe. The sector undertook an orchestrated lobbying effort through the Illinois Fitness Association (IFA), uniting fitness operators in the city and its surrounding regions.
