About Peter-Frans Pauwels:

“We changed the game again when we entered the digital sports market. TomTom Sports Watches launched in 2013 and brought easy-to-use functionality to the everyday athlete, democratizing technology which was previously reserved for the elite. There is incredible innovation going on in this space. It’s an inspiring and exciting place to be right now.”

Peter-Frans was the original product developer at TomTom. His expertise and vision for product development played a decisive role in TomTom’s growth from a small startup into a leading global consumer electronics brand.

His first role at TomTom was to develop and sell new software solutions for hand-held computers in Europe. In 1994 he moved into the position of Chief Technical Officer. During his time as CTO, he managed the

development and execution of the first navigation system. TomTom Navigator ran on PDAs, and provided customers across Europe with an easy-to-use, affordable navigation solution for the first time.

TomTom Navigator paved the way for the launch of the TomTom GO in 2004, the very first portable navigation device (PND), which revolutionized the way people move and became the fastest selling consumer device in history.

Today, Peter-Frans is focused on product innovation, specifically within TomTom’s Sports business. He is passionate about creating technically savvy products that are incredibly easy to use.

Peter-Frans holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Amsterdam.
