IDEA World Fitness Awards are considered as the most prestigious awards in the fitness industry provided by the largest membership fitness organization IDEA Health and Fitness Association since 1985. For the first time this year, a non-North American fitness professional receives the top recognition and honourin the category of Personal Trainers during the Opening Ceremony of the IDEA World Convention that was held on June 28, 2018 in San Diego, CA.
Alexis Batrakoulis has been involved in the fitness industry since 1995 and currently works as personal trainer, international fitness educator and Personal Training Education Director at the Greek Athletic & Fitness Training School (GRAFTS), which is a EuropeActive accredited and leading vocational training provider in Greece and Cyprus. Alexis is a member of the Professional Standards Committee at EuropeActive and has led the Technical Experts Groups that developed standards for the occupational role of Weight Management Exercise Specialist onto the European Register of Exercise Professionals (EREPS).
Additionally, he serves as a Subject Matter Expert and an International Master Trainer at the American Council on Exercise (ACE), a Member of the Exercise is Medicine (EIM) Credential Committee, Professional Education Committee and International Health & Fitness Summit Program Committee for the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and he is the General Secretary of the Hellenic Exercise Professionals Association (HEPA). Finally, he is preparing to earn a PhD in exercise and health with a specialisation in exercise and obesity while his mission is focused on the fight against the greatest public health challenges of the 21st century called inactivity and obesity through specialised and science-based fitness education.
