EuropeActive presents PAHA and Let’s #BEACTIVE projects at the 21st ENAS Forum and Assembly

On Thursday November 15th, EuropeActive presented the work it’s doing on physical activity promotion to the members of the European Network of Academic Sport Services (ENAS). There was specially attention for our PAHA project.

PAHA or Promoting Physical Activity for Healthy Ageing was an EU funded project, coordinated by EuropeActive, that was all about self-perceived inactive older adults (55-65 years old) following a 6-week intervention of structured exercise, exercise counselling and behavioural change support. The project demonstrated that such a six-week structured exercise programme is indeed effective to get people to be more active. Because of the stellar results of the project, which ran from January 2015 till September 2016, it has been labelled a success story and a good practice by the European Commission in 2018.

Building on the success of the PAHA project, EuropeActive has launched the Let’s #BEACTIVE project in January 2018. Using the same method of the 6-week structured exercise intervention, Let’s #BEACTIVE aims to help inactive adults (18-55 years old) become more active and live healthier lifestyles. However, it will try to do this on a vastly bigger scale then the PAHA project. Instead of reaching around 700 people, it will be reaching tens of thousands of inactive adults during the 3-year project duration. The first results of this ambitious project are expected by the end of the year.
