International conference on clean sport

The Anti-doping Law and Sport Communities convened in Saudi Arabia for the International Conference on the Law and Sport for the Fight against Doping. It was the first major international symposium that took place following the revised World Anti-doping Code that came into effect at the start of this year. The event was held in partnership with the World Anti-doping Agency (WADA), and in cooperation with UNESCO, Interpol, the Olympic Council of Asia, FIFA, and the Swiss Anti-Doping Laboratory among others.

More than 200 participants focused on topics such as the UNESCO Convention against doping in sport, trafficking of prohibited substances, international cooperation, information and investigations, and collaborations among International Federations (IFs), National Olympic Committees (NOCs), National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs), and Regional Anti-Doping Organizations (RADOs). “The world of anti-doping can be complex, with a number of different elements required to ensure that programs are operating in an efficient and effective manner,” said WADA Director General, David Howman, adding that “one of the key elements of success is partnerships”.
