Improving professional standards in Russia

Round-table discussions to improve fitness through developing & implementing professional standards were held in Moscow on 19th of December 2017 at the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.

The organisers of the event were the Commission on the Healthcare, Physical Culture, and Promotion of Healthy Lifestyle and the Russian Fitness-aerobics Federation.Participants included Members of Commission on the Healthcare, Physical Culture, and Promotion of Healthy Lifestyle, representatives of Parliament of Russian Federation, Sports Ministry, Education Ministry of Russia, public and commercial organizations of fitness industry, educational institutions and mass media experts.

During the round-table was discussed the advisability of amendments to existing legislation to eliminate the legislative gaps regarding the regulation of activity and professional compliance of experts, who is providing sportive and fitness services in commercial facilities. Also was discussed the mechanisms of regulation of professional level and compliance of employees by developing of Professional Standards.

The key messages of the discussions were: Popularization of sport and increasing the number of people involved to sport and fitness activities, including  members of fitness and sport clubs, gyms members, visitors of swimming pools. This is a very positive trend that deserves the support. However, the main thing in these sphere of social interactions is the health and life safety of people. At the end of the day, the main goal of the government policy in popularization of sports and fitness is to improve health, longevity and quality of life of nation.
