EuropeActive attended on Monday, 15th June the first online edition of the European Commission’s Sport Unit Policy Breakfast. Despite its virtual format, the event allowed participants to pursue their permanent dialogue with the EC’s Sport Unit, discussing what was achieved in the previous months and what is planned for the future.
FAIR+ project partners met online on 16-17 June to discuss the two projects’ technical expert groups (TEGs) surveys. TEG1 survey will investigate the prevalence of doping in recreational sport and the psychological considerations behind its use, whereas TEG2 survey will provide a review of anti-doping education programmes and activities targeting recreational coaches by reaching out National Anti-Doping Organisations, International Federations and other sport and fitness organisations.

On Tuesday June 16, the incoming trio-presidency for the EU council, consisting of Germany, Portugal and Slovenia, presented their joined programme for the next 18 months. Germany will kick-off this new presidency cycle on July 1st and will hold the presidency for the following 6 months.
EuropeActive representatives joined the two-day European Week of Sport Key Players Webinar on 9th and 10th June 2020. National coordinators and partners of the European Week of Sport discussed the different communication strategies and shared best practices for the upcoming campaign on 23-30 September.
While 70% of Europeans want the European Union to do more for health, according to a recent Eurobarometer survey, the Covid-19 pandemic has shown that it is of utmost importance to ensure efficient health systems for European citizens; in other words, there has never been a more crucial moment for Europe to invest in health protection and promotion.
Every year during the last week of May, the European Week against cancer is organised to raise awareness around cancer and increase support for the fight against cancer. One of the key initiatives the European Commission is working on in this area is the Europe’s Beating Cancer plan, of which the final version is expected to be published by the end of the year.
On Thursday 21st May, Blueprint project partners gathered online, instead of meeting in Brussels as originally planned, due to current Covid-19 circumstances.
On Thursday 7th May, the Norwegian Football Federation organised the third partner meeting of the Anti-Doping in Football Erasmus Plus Project. The meeting was also attended by representative of the UEFA anti-doping and project departments.
EuropeActive invites everyone to join the #BeActive hour on Saturday 30th May at 5pm (CET), to collectively celebrate physical activity across Europe. The Hour is for everyone, regardless of age, background, or fitness level.
From 11 till 15 May, the European public health ecosystem is coming together to share experiences and knowledge. During these challenging times of the covid-19 pandemic, both public health and close and open collaboration are more important then ever. EuropeActive actively engaged in many of the virtual activities organised through this initiative, emphasising the importance of physical activity during this public health crisis.
