The kick-off meeting of EuropeActive’s National Fitness Day for Europe project took place on the 14-15 January in Brussels. Participants arrived from different corners of Europe as this project will develop with EU and Non-EU countries collaboration. The project’s main objective is to promote the European Week of Sport (EWoS) through the establishment of National Fitness Day campaigns in Georgia, North Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Ukraine.
This will be achieved by bringing together the non-EU partners with 4 EU partners from Ireland, Greece, UK and Portugal who have well established National Fitness Associations, experience in EU funded projects and existing successful National Fitness Day campaigns. Moreover, the project aims to reinforce the grassroots sport network in each of the non-EU countries and raise awareness of HEPA at their national level.
A two-directional exchange of knowledge and experience will be organised and the method of ‘’buddying partnership’’ will be used in order to run effective NFD campaigns in the new partners countries.
It’s a clear goal of the project to build relationships that will long-outlast the duration of the project, incorporating actors from the partner countries into the EU-fitness and sport networks.
