EuropeActive will be attending on 5th & 6th December at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki - School of Physical Education and Sports Science -the 2nd partner meeting of the ‘Anti-Doping in Football’ project. EuropeActive, together with UEFA, decided two years ago to set up a consortium capable of addressing the issue of doping in recreational football and providing more information about its prevalence.
EuropeActive has conducted many researchers and projects regarding the abuse of doping in recreational sport and in the fitness sector. The project coordinator (the Norwegian Football Federation) will present the report produced throughout the results of the survey on the prevalence of doping in recreational football with several Football Federations.
The report aimed to evaluate the current situation in selected European Local/grassroots football clubs and to describe what has been done so far by the football federations together with the National AntiDoping Agencies.
Starting from the Report outcomes, the project is expecting to develop value-based education materials and guidelines for “anti-doping coaches” who will act as ambassadors in the fight against doping. Today and tomorrow the partners will concretely define the characteristics of these educational materials by addressing two main points: what is the most efficient way to inform athletes about anti-doping and how do we reach grassroot players that might be tomorrow’s star player or those who just play for fun.
