The European Commission and the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) organised the third Cluster Meeting on Erasmus+ Sport on 4 to 5 December 2019 in Brussels. The theme of this meeting was on “The role of sport in education: enhancing skills development and dual careers perspectives”.

This meeting was an opportunity to monitor what is happening in a large number of projects awarded under the Erasmus+ programme. EuropeActive is coordinating a collaborative partnership project called BLUEPRINT for skills and employment cooperation in active leisure. The Cluster Meeting in Brussels took a closer look at project implementation, and especially in sharing information on best practices.

EuropeActive presented the results of its foresight work in predicting future trends for the fitness sector. Cliff Collins, EuropeActive’s Programme Director said “These Erasmus+ projects are very important to the sport movement and especially for us in fitness. We have been able to combine the resources of the BLUEPRINT project with our ongoing work in monitoring trends which is providing the evidence for us to take informed decisions. This is especially the case for updating the standards which will help improve the qualifications for fitness professions in the future”.

This was the third E+ Sport Cluster meeting where the previous two were focussed on promoting health-enhancing physical activity and integrity in sport – including anti-doping actions.
