The ‘Fitness Akademi’ from Istanbul began delivering training in 2005 and requested accreditation for the first time at the end of 2013. Today a team of 16 Turkish and international experts on education work together with the Akademi to make sure their courses are of the highest level possible. EuropeActive’s accreditation is one way of showing this to both potential students and employers in the field. Blue Vision was also the first private school in this sector to receive a certification by the Turkish Ministry of Education.
“It’s great to see professional organisations such as Blue Vision renewing their accreditation and very happy to see we agree on professionalising the industry via common educational standards across Europe,” says Julian Berriman, Director of EuropeActive’s Professional Standards Committee.
The system of accreditation used by EuropeActive has successfully accredited over 100 training companies across Europe. During this accreditation process, each submission is considered on its merits by one or more of EuropeActive’s independent expert assessors who evaluate the content, delivery, assessment and examination to check that the programmes are fit for purpose in producing graduates that can demonstrate the skills and competence required and as identified in the EuropeActive Standards.
Re-Accreditation is for programmes, such as Blue Vision’s course to become Personal Trainer, which have already been through the initial mapping process and for which the company has previously received confirmation of accreditation and certification. Understanding the importance of the European certification, Blue Vision has also started the process of accreditation for its Group Fitness Instructor course.
With the addition of these 42 new EREPS members, more than 150 Turkish exercise professionals are now EREPS certified personal trainers via Blue Vision – a big step in further professionalising the Turkish health and fitness sector.
