EuropeActive warmly congratulates Alexis Batrakoulis, EuropeActive's Professional Standards Committee Deputy Director, for been awarded the most innovative educator of fitness professionals by IDEA Health and Fitness Association.

 IDEA is the world’s largest membership fitness organization and its annual awards are considered the most prestigious industry awards around the globe since 1985. This year, Alexis Batrakoulis who was recently named the 2018 IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year, is also the 2019 IDEA Fitness Innovation Award Recipient. The announcement of the winner was revealed during the opening ceremonies of the IDEA China Convention in Shanghai on the 22nd of August in Shanghai.

Alexis Batrakoulis is based in Greece and has been involved in the fitness industry since 1995. He currently works as a personal trainer, exercise physiologist, and fitness educator both nationwide and worldwide.

He is the founder and education director of the International Obesity Exercise Training Institute teaching live courses in more than 40 countries across 4 continents. Alexis is a Deputy Director of the Professional Standards Committee at EuropeActive having specific responsibility for the support and promotion of EREPS.

Additionally, he has led the Technical Experts Group that developed standards for the occupational role of Weight Management Exercise Specialist onto EREPS and serves as a subject matter expert on several Committees and Councils for the American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Lastly, he is preparing to earn a PhD in exercise physiology with a specialisation in exercise and obesity.
