On Monday 28th October, the European Commission invited representatives from the EU partner countries and sport stakeholders to Kiev, Ukraine, to participate in the 2nd Seminar on the European Week of Sport beyond borders. This year’s edition was the 2nd time countries from the Eastern Partnership and Western Balkans were able to participate and demonstrate their commitment to the campaign by sharing experiences of the activities they have organised in their countries this year.
Furthermore, Yves Le Lostecque, head of the Sport Unit at the European Commission and his colleague, Naïs Rigollet, gave more information on EU funding possibilities for partner countries and emphasised the success of the current cooperation in the framework of the European Week of Sport. They are convinced that this cooperation will grow stronger in the coming years and will make a strong contribution to the continued growth of the European Week of Sport.
EuropeActive actively supports the collaboration with stakeholders from the partner countries by working closely with local organisation for the #Let’s BEACTIVE campaign. We are also eager to kick-off our new EU funded action, National Fitness Day for Europe, at the start of 2020. This project will be bringing together key fitness stakeholders from both EU and non-EU countries to support the European Week of Sport and the #Let’s BEACTIVE campaign.
