Fitness.be launched an alcohol-free challenge, titled “Tournée minérale”, for February.

Its online assessment for healthy lifestyles was also promoted, on this occasion.

Feb 2, 2023 - United Kingdom

ukactive’s pilot to transform leisure centres, swimming pools, and gyms into musculoskeletal (MSK) health hubs has been expanded to 100 sites across the UK.

The pilot aims to ensure that leisure centres and gyms play a more significant role in supporting the NHS and social care services.

Feb 2, 2023 - Spain

A recent survey of sporting habits, conducted on an annual basis, revealed that 42.7% of Spanish citizens (48,2% of women and 36,9% of men) did not practice any sport in 2022.

According to theSpanish Society of Obesity, the economic impact of physical inactivity reaches 1,56 billion euros, namely 56% of the Health Ministry’s budget for 2023.

Feb 2, 2023 - Portugal

Portugal Activo representatives met with the Secretary of State for Fiscal Affairs, Dr Nuno Félix, to assess the state of the national fitness sector.

Portugal Activo requested adding fitness operators to stakeholders covered by art. 9 of the VAT Code, therefore including them as beneficiaries of a reduced VAT rate.

IrelandActive announced that 4861 businesses had completed their claim process, within the Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme (TBESS), in the last two months.

The Government was urged to support grassroots sport and the physical activity sector.

This was done through a statement, jointly issued by Active Partnerships, CIMSPA, the Local Government Association, the Sport and Recreation Alliance, the Sport for Development Coalition, Swim England, ukactive and the Youth Sport Trust.

The recently elected DSSV leadership (led by President Wessinghage) presented its objectives.
