The sixth edition of the European Week of Sport, which took place from the 23-30 of September was a great success and adapted exceptionally well to the difficult circumstances as imposed by C-19 which resulted in the cancellation of many planned events throughout the continent. The official figures regarding participation in the EWoS will soon be published by the EU Commission on the European Week of Sport website.
EuropeActive, as an official partner of the EWoS, looks forward to the week every year and invites its network of fitness stakeholders to support the campaign. This contribution by the European fitness sector will be documented and summarised in a report that EuropeActive is drafting for the EU Commission and will be published mid-October.
EuropeActive in pursuing it objective of promoting physical activity, co-ordinates two Erasmus+ projects during the European Week of Sport together with 12 National Fitness Associations from different European Countries:
1. “National Fitness Day for Europe” through the establishment of the “National Fitness Days” event-format, several countries in the European neighbourhood (Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia, Macedonia, and Ukraine) hosted a National Fitness Day for the first time.
2. “Let’s #BEACTIVE” thousands of inactive adults engaged in structured interventions in hundreds of fitness centres across 8 different countries.
EuropeActive would like to congratulate all our partners and National Associations on their amazing efforts for the European Week of Sport, we are delighted with this years campaign and are eager at the prospect of growing these projects which highlight the importance of physical Activity.
