EuropeActive, European Week of Sport, BeActive, Awards

EuropeActive, as founder partner of the European Week of Sport, was invited to the #BeActive Awards Ceremony hosted by Commissioner Tibor Navracsics in Budapest. The awards are presented each year to people and organisations who inspire others and promote sport in their communities. The Awards were also the occasion for National Coordinators and Partners to discuss together with the EU Commission the European Week of Sport outcomes and what improvements can be implemented for the next edition.

The #BeActive Education Award which highlights sport projects outside the standard school setting was presented to Schools in Motion from Estonia. The #BeActive Workplace category winner was Sport Malta, who were rewarded for the creative way of promoting an active working environment for their staff. The #BeActive Local Hero Award recognises individual achievement in motivating others in the local community to participate in sporting events and activities. It was presented to Hungarian Nóra Kádár-Papp.

The 5th Edition of the European Week of Sport engaged millions of people in 42 different countries with more than 22 thousand events.  EuropeActive, according to the official statistics, was one of the most active partners in promoting the #BeActive message on social media.

Moreover, the Commission recognised the hard work carried out by EuropeActive team with the Let’s #BeActive Campaign & Report which revealed the fitness sector contribution to the European Week of Sport 2019.
