On 8th December 2020, EuropeActive attended the #BeActive Awards Ceremony online. The Awards were created to celebrate the best projects and individual’ contributions to the promotion of sport and physical activity across Europe. Moderator Raluca Anghel presented the finalists and Commissioner Mariya Gabriel announced the impressive 2020 winners.
The next day, the EU Sport Unit together with European Week of Sport (EWOS) partners and co-ordinators gathered to discuss the results of the 2020 Week and the actions toward the 2021 edition. Despite COVID-19, the data underlines how the EWOS keeps growing in terms of partners and media impact (especially in the Balkan Countries) while the participants and events’ figures remain stable compared to previous editions. The Commission also updated the partners about the reformed European Week of Sport funding mechanism which establishes more resources and fewer administrative procedures and promised to revise the role of partners and the criteria to become one.
EuropeActive was mentioned as one of the three partners who engaged the highest number of people on social media and through physical events. The great work the fitness and physical activity sector did with the #BeActive Hour, National Fitness Days and #BeActive Night (with the EREPS ambassadors) was officially recognised by the organisers and the EU Commission.
