On Tuesday September 8th, EuropeActive and its national fitness association partners came together for an on-line roundtable to discuss the latest developments and look at the months ahead.

During the session it became clear that the body of evidence is growing demonstrating the safety of fitness centres in terms of Covid-19 infections. Data collection from Poland and Spain confirmed the findings from Australia, the USA and the UK that the number of Covid-19 infections in fitness centres is close to negligibly small. In addition, the excellent traceability of fitness centre visits makes the public health risk extremely limited.

With the pandemic continuing to heavily impact our society, it is more important than ever to promote physical active for the mental, physical and social wellbeing of all Europeans. EuropeActive and the national fitness associations are looking forward to taking on a key role in the upcoming European Week of Sport and help increase activity levels across the continent to boost people’s immune systems and resilience.

EuropeActive looks forward to continue the close collaboration with the national fitness association partners and to welcome them and everyone interested in the fitness and physical activity sector at the European Health and Fitness Forum on September 30th
