Leading chains of clubs including David Lloyd, The Gym Group, Basic-Fit, Solinca and SportCity are completing certification of their clubs as part of growing participation. EuropeActive is promoting a Partnership Programme with operators, suppliers and national associations to help roll-out the independent certification of clubs based on the European Standard EN17229. As part of its forward strategy of promoting standards and moving the sector towards becoming an essential healthcare provider EuropeActive is promoting FITcert as its central scheme.
The Partnership Programme was explained at the recent Roundtable meeting of national associations and 7 countries are already moving forward to introduce their member clubs into the scheme which is undertaken in cooperation with the independent inspection bodies for FITcert. The Partnership Programme is also being introduced through the two EuropeActive President’s Councils for the leading operators and suppliers in the European market who are showing their support for standards and the professionalising of the fitness sector by supporting FITcert.
