EuropeActive ended 2021 with the launch of its second SafeACTiVE report in partnership with King Juan Carlos University, AWRC-Sheffield Hallam University and ukactive’s Research Institute. Fitness club operators and leisure centres kept reporting extremely low rates of COVID-19 risk in their facilities.
With more than 185 million visits analysed, the number of reported cases sits at 0.88, which is fewer than one case per 100.000 visits. Research and evaluation partners had reported only 1,628 positive cases (of both members and staff) from the beginning of 2021 from operators based in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The SafeACTiVE report seeks to document the safety standards in our sector’s places of business and to demonstrate the relatively low transmission risk of COVID-19 in these facilities. EuropeActive, in accordance with the Sectoral Manifesto, keeps working to get our sector recognised as an essential and reliable solution to this public health crisis.
