Launch of the Healthier Together initiative on Non-Communicable Diseases

On 22 June 2022, the European Commission launched the Healthier Together initiative to tackle non-communicable diseases in the EU. The idea behind this initiative is to support Member States in their work to tackle NCDs by addressing the leading causes of avoidable premature deaths in Europe and improving citizens’ health and wellbeing.

The EU4Health 2022 Work Programme has been published

On January 14th, the European Commission published the second EU4Health work programme. With a budget of €835 million, the new programme will continue to fund projects on four focus areas: crisis preparedness, disease prevention, health systems and healthcare workforce, and digitalization. As a follow-up of the 2021 work programme, it will further invest in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, and the European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA).

EU4Health information session focusses on second wave of calls

On 28th October 2021, the European Commission organized its new info session on the second wave of the EU4Health calls for action grants.
 
The EU4Health Programme is a new EU funding programme which was created as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It focusses on four main themes that are disease prevention and health promotion; crisis preparedness; health workers and healthcare workforce; and digital health.

EU4Health Work Programme 2022 to focus on health promotion

As a reminder, EU4Health is the European Union’s response to the pandemic, seeking to improve and foster health in the EU, protect people from cross-border health threats and address healthcare systems’ resilience.

On Wednesday March 24th, the European Commission’s administration for Health and Food Safety, DG SANTE, hosted the ‘EU4Health programme 2021: potential solutions for a healthier European Union’ workshop, looking to further explore the potential solutions for EU-wide health challenges under the four strands of the Programme by gathering stakeholders feedback.

While 70% of Europeans want the European Union to do more for health, according to a recent Eurobarometer survey, the Covid-19 pandemic has shown that it is of utmost importance to ensure efficient health systems for European citizens; in other words, there has never been a more crucial moment for Europe to invest in health protection and promotion.
