EuropeActive joins EU Expert Group on Green Sport

EuropeActive has recently been invited by the European Commission to be an observer of the Expert Group on Green Sport. This group is formed by both representatives of the European sport movement and representatives from the EU Member States.

In addition to understanding the “green sports” landscape in the EU and mapping existing projects, initiatives and practices, the ambition of the Expert Group on Green Sport is to draft a “common framework for sustainable sport”, including a series of recommendation in the 5 following areas:

#BEACTIVE DAY brings together millions across Europe to celebrate active lifestyles

On Thursday 23rd September EuropeActive, together with its extended network of 26 national association partners organised the #BEACTIVE DAY campaign as the fitness and physical activity sector's contribution to the European Week of Sport. In previous years the campaign has already proven to be a highly successful in underscoring the fun and importance of exercise and to encourage people to lead an active lifestyle.

Youth spaces after COVID-19 - sport in flourishing communities

An online discussion on youth spaces after COVID, with a focus on sport, was co-organised by the European Parliament Sports Group and the UEFA Foundation for Children on 21st April 2021. 
 
In the course of the discussion, MEP Dragos Pislaru reminded the participants that the current crisis is affecting coaches, sports clubs and fitness centers, especially financially, but it is also affecting the population.

EuropeActive is fully engaged in the latest sport & physical activity developments

EuropeActive strongly believes in the power of physical activity to bring people together and change lives for the better. The latest sport and physical activity initiatives developed in Brussels were carefully followed-up by attending the Sport Unit Policy Breakfast, the Sport “Infoday”, the Project Coordinators’ Meeting and the “Sport vs Homophobia” conference.
