EuropeActive is the leading not-for-profit organisation representing the European health and fitness sector. Our mission is to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles through the development and harmonisation of the fitness and physical activity industry across Europe. Headquartered in Brussels, we work with a wide range of stakeholders including EU institutions, national associations, fitness operators, suppliers, and training providers.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Officer to support our accounting team. Working closely with the Head of Finance and Operations as well as the entire EuropeActive Team, you will ensure accurate financial records, smooth day-to-day accounting activities and compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with daily accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations;
• Process invoices and expense claims, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation;
• Reconciliation of bank account ;
• Monitor and record financial transactions in the accounting system;
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports;
• Help prepare for audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal procedures;
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation;
• Liaise with external partners such as banks, auditors, and service providers;
• Provide administrative support to the Finance Department as required.
Qualifications and Experience
• Degree or qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
• Minimum of 1–3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience;
• Familiarity with Belgian accounting standards and VAT procedures;
• Experience with accounting software (Winbooks is plus);
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications;
• Fluent in English; knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus;
• Strong attention to detail, integrity, and sense of responsibility;
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
