#BEACTIVE DAY is a European campaign to celebrate and promote the fun and importance of physical activity for people’s physical, mental and social wellbeing.
Summary
The #BEACTIVE DAY campaign is a Not-for-profit European sport event that materialises the vision of getting more people across Europe more active, and is designed to tackle the issue of inactivity through the core message of #BEACTIVE. The Action aims to build capacity around, and further grow, the European Week of Sport (EWoS) through the #BEACTIVE DAY campaign. The latter is a direct continuation, and further development of the National Fitness Day for Europe project and campaign, as it is articulated around the same premise: to celebrate and promote the fun and importance of physical activity for people’s physical, mental and social wellbeing. Partner countries will implement the #BEACTIVE DAY campaign through various free events and activities, hence growing the physical activity and fitness sector’s ever-growing contribution to Health-Enhancing Physical Activity. By promoting greater participation in physical activity events on September 23rd, the #BEACTIVE DAY campaign contributes directly to the continent’s largest campaign promoting sport and physical activity: the European Commission’s annual European Week of Sport (EWoS).
Through capacity building and knowledge-sharing events, the nine partner National Fitness Associations will support and learn from one another as they prepare and deliver their national/regional #BEACTIVE DAY campaigns. The campaign seeks to raise awareness around the necessity of facilitating access to physical activity for everyone, with a particular focus on developing the offer of intergenerational physical activities.
The consortium is composed of eight EU-countries (Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Portugal, Romania) and two non-EU ones (North Macedonia and Serbia), enabling the creation and strengthening of strong connections at national level and across the continent, while also contributing to ‘sport beyond borders’.
